According to the Vital Statistics from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, 381,505 people died from cancer in 2021, significantly outpacing the 214,710 deaths from heart disease (excluding hypertensive cases), which is the second leading cause of death. The urgent need to conquer cancer remains a pressing issue, and treatment methods have been evolving rapidly in recent years. In addition to advancements in conventional surgery, anticancer drugs, and radiotherapy, there have been remarkable developments in the field of endoscopic treatment and genomic medicine for cancers.
